I feel like griping about the film and praising it as well so I am gonna do it here....beware

Ok first off...Overall I liked the movie. I thought the whole dark feel to it was greatly captured and shown. The new campus look was awesome. I felt that showing how big the campus was and the terrain was an awesome site. I loved the Dementors. They were just how I pictured them. Some of the scenes were so impactful I thought that the y would make great photos/posters. A lot of critics are saying that they like this version as opposed to the other 2 going as far as saying the original director made it to child like. Hi have they read the books? The first two books were supposed to be whimsical and childlike because THEY ARE KIDS BOOKS!!!!! The seriousness of the wizarding world doesn't happen till the end of the second book and carries on to the others. We are supposed to watch an 11 year old child grow into a man and deal with growing pains. As the character matures so do the stories and the audience. They were written like that on purpose. Sheesh.

Gripes. Alfonso Cuarón did a spectacular job with imagery but left out some really key points in the story. First, Harry's aunt visits for a week before she turns into Violet Beauregarde. This is important because it shows that Harry had to endure a week or her prattleing and misguided opinions before losing his temper. Instead he loses it a couple hours after she shows up making Harry seem like a little brat losing his temper. But that is not as important as the biggest mistake that Cuarón made. The Marauders. Padfoot, wormtail, moony, and tongs. They are a key element to the whole film. They show the comradery of Harry's father, godfather, Lupin and Pettigrew. The sacrifices they made because of how solid their friendship was. And just how deep the betrayle was. It also explains the shape of Harry's patronus. How could you leave such a vital piece of information out? They had better show it in the cut scenes. I can understand that the director wanted this to be the shortest Harry Potter film. But sheesh. Also what is the deal with only showing one Quidditch match per movie. It is an important part of Harry's life especially in the third book because he wins the Quidditch cup. Not to mention that in the fourth book they all go to the Quidditch world cup. It takes up the first third of the book.

Goblet of Fire. The fourth book is not only one of my favorite but one of serious importance. People die and Voldemort returns. Characters introduced and really important as well. It has already been said that Goblet of Fire will not include Harry's aunt and uncle. It will being at the world cup after his birthday. So not only does his family not acknowledge his birthday, but neither does the new director. That's some cold hearted shit. Also, there is a chance that the movie will end up like Kill Bill. Presented in 2 parts because of it's length. Now I have a suggestion. Wouldn't it be a good idea to do a Harry Potter tv series. Each season could represent a book. I mean it wouldn't take as long to make. The box set on dvd would sell like crazy. British tv shows are better than american shows anyway (i.e. Coupling, Black Adder, Mr Bean, The Office, Ab Fab). The kids wouldn't grow up as fast. And none of us would have to wait 3 years for a new Potter movie. Bad enough we have to wait forever for a new book. Sheesh. Alright I am done now. Tee hee

Not having read the book, I had a lot of questions about the story.  Like the Shrieking Shack.  It would have been nice to know the whole story behind it.

I liked the directing in this one, and I liked the overall feel, but it also lacked that real "magical" feel to it.  A lot of the magic that happened was very predictable.

It also lacked a real point where you felt like the kids were in peril (except for maybe the willow beating them up).

Some of the scenes were neat (like the little willow clips and the door locking) but I wish that they would have used that time for story development instead.

And, about them being child like- they should be.  They are rated PG.  However, the 2nd one was much darker and scarier for a kid than the 3rd one.  The 2nd one had giant spiders and a giant serpent in it.  It also talked about how the ghost in the bathroom died and people and a cat got "frozen".

On a different note, from a photography stand point, they really messed up in some parts.  Quite a few of the scenes are blown out.  They obviously filmed them in too low of light then lightened them up, which makes it all grainy and fuzzy.  The last scene where Harry is talking to Lupin while he is packing.
