In the latest issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly, Tecmo's Team Ninja reveals that they indeed are planning a sequel to the heavily drooled over action game, Ninja Gaiden. In the magazine's "Afterthoughts" section, EGM sits down with Team Ninja's head honcho Tomonobu Itagaki for one awesome interview.
"Yes, I am planning a sequel. But first, I'm implementing some of the requests from the fans into the game program of the Master Ninja Tournament." That tourney, by the way, gets started on May 12, with registration opening in just a few short days on May 3.
Itagaki reveals just how awesome he is when asked about the first Ninja Gaiden’s high difficulty, by commenting, "I don't care what other games are doing. I personally directed the A.I. programming, so it's difficulty is a reflection of my own sense and taste." How’s that for “hardcore”?
To finish things off, Tomonobu Itagaki tries to enter Bebito’s “Videogame Developers Hall Of Fame” by retorting to the question of if the PlayStation 2 could handle Ninja Gaiden, by simply grinning and replying, "Why even ask a question that you know will disappoint PS2 fanboys?"
Just for that, I’m going to go out and buy 5 more copies of Ninja Gaiden. We have to support this man. But getting back to the sequel, we may see something at the upcoming E3 as far as some actual gameplay details goes. (Get ready to see that phrase plastered at the end of every news blurb you see until the Expo finally comes in May.)
