The news updates from the geeks eye

Despite those mixed "Highlander: Endgame" reviews, it looks like the producers have finally taken notice of what the fans have wanted by returning the immortal franchise to TV (rather than the big screen) late in 2004.

UK magazine Impact just ran an interview with David Abramowitz, the man who was a guiding hand for many of the "Highlander" TV series' best seasons and reveals that he has been asked to write a four-hour mini-series which looks set to start filming in April - with a set of international filming locations and a set of newer characters.

The lead role won't be a 'MacLeod', but rather a 'Mackenzie' (though the appearance of familiar faces isn't *completely* ruled out). It's expected to have major swordwork from the first moment, something missing from the earlier spin-off 'The Raven'. The mini-series is provisionally entitled 'Archangel' though that has nothing to do with a previous "Highlander" episode of the same name.

Abramowitz says "Everyone connected thinks 'I am the Highlander' but it's a perfect vehicle for me to write. I like writing action adventure, I like sword and sorcery and it gives me a vehicle to do various kinds of talmudic discussions in a good story-telling way and there's nothing else on television that I could do it with. I have a thirty-four page outline. The grand theme of the piece is... it's a question we've done before, but done differently here... is redemption truly possible?".

The issue of Impact with the interview hit newsstands in the UK this week.

Huge fan of Adrian Pauls Acting, loved him since Love potion #9,who can forget the sad tale of Jeremy the brother of Barnabas in the remake of Dark Shadows, I appriciate the love of the art of acting and understand about his desire to branch out in other characters such as Trackers and the movie for Sci Fi "the Breed",,,,a bit campy for my taste the actor is not to blame for that the writing could have been so much better. Vampire flicks should be sexy and yet scarey too. Trackers was cancelled just as it was really getting interesting. I digress...the point is Mr. Paul should embrace the role of MacLeod, such a success after the embarresment that Highlander 2 (not starring Paul), the Endgame really redeemed the trilogy in my opinion, due in part to the superb acting of Adrian Paul. As a person of pure Scottish decsent and have been told much lore about it The only believable ledgends were A.Paul and in the first movie and series C. Lambert. Mr. Abramowitz I would love to be on your writing staff ! Call me or e mail at AmyComperatore@hotmail.com
