The superhero genre maybe relatively quiet this year, but in 2005 its coming back with a vengeance as two such films aiming to bow next Summer are about to get underway according to Variety.

First up the next "Batman" movie which soon begins filming in Iceland has confirmed two new cast players that have been rumoured for a few weeks now. First up the one and only Liam Neeson is set to play the main villain Ra's Al Ghul, a role many thought that Viggo Mortensen was occupying (no word yet on if Viggo is locked for a part).

Meanwhile the small but pivotal role of Wayne Enterprises Science Division head Lucius Fox is set to be taken by none other than Morgan Freeman. Freeman will shoot towards the production's end once he wraps up work on the Kevin Spacey/Justin Timberlake movie "Edison".

Another superhero production is rapidly speeding towards production today as its been announced that "The X-Files Movie" and "Reign of Fire" Director Rob Bowan is in talks with Fox and Regency Enterprises to helm the "Daredevil" spin-off movie "Elektra".

Using a script penned by Zak Penn, Marvel & Fox are rushing forward to get everything ready for a shooting start in May so as to fit nicely into the three month hiatus that title character star Jennifer Garner will have from her hit TV show "Alias" which wraps up filming of its third season in April.

The plot of "Elektra" will draw heavily from the graphic novels "The Elektra Assassin" and "The Elektra Saga," as she battles the Hand, an organization of killers that trained and then betrayed her. One major character will be Stick, a martial arts trainer who is a famed Marvel Comics figure.
